Overview
A window well is a secure, properly drained space around a basement window. Installed right, it keeps water, soil, and debris away from the window while protecting the foundation and improving drainage around the home.
For an egress window, it’s also the way out. The well has to hold the space someone needs to climb out safely in an emergency, so it has to stay clear rather than silt in.
We install the system, not just the well. Attachment, sealing, filter fabric, drainage gravel, and finishing all work together — a well with nowhere for water to go simply collects it against the window.

How we install window wells
- 1 Prepare the area. We clear and prep the ground around the basement window first.
- 2 Position and secure the well. The well is set in place and fastened to the foundation.
- 3 Seal the edges. We carefully seal where the well meets the foundation — the most vulnerable point around a basement window.
- 4 Install filter fabric. Fabric goes in to help control soil and sediment.
- 5 Add drainage gravel. Gravel fills the base of the well so water can move through it.
- 6 Build the drainage path. Water gets somewhere to go, away from the basement window, instead of collecting inside the well.
- 7 Finish the area. We finish the surround for a clean, stable, professional installation.
